Do you know what the one thing is that almost all entrepreneurs make more difficult than it really is? Marketing their businesses online.
Does that sound like you?
I get it, trust me.
Every single day there seems like there’s a new platform or a new tool that you must do in order to grow your business. And it can be extremely overwhelming.
But in today’s episode, I am going to help you get started marketing your business. I hear all the time excuses, okay, reasons why people aren’t marketing their business.
Some people are looking for an exact road map with swipe files and everything that they need to market their business, yet once they get it, they don’t use it.
I also hear, “Yeah, but it’s been said before.”
Guess what? No one has said it in your tone, in your way of teaching, or in your thought process. Maybe you have something that is completely unique for what everybody else had to say. And let me just say no one can do you better than you do.
And of course, if it wasn’t the first two reasons, then it’s this one, “I don’t have enough time to market my business.”
And I’d actually like to reframe that before we move on.
Think about it as, do you have time to connect with your future customers? Do you have time to talk, and have a conversation, and build a community of people that are interested in working with you?
All right, now do you have some time for marketing? I thought so. So, let’s get started talking about how to get started marketing your business. I’m gonna give you the best tip first because I don’t wanna make you wait.
The absolute best way to get started marketing your business is to get started.
I know, I know, so simple, right?
But that is actually one of the hardest steps to take. And the reason behind that is because most people don’t know what they are talking about. I want you to think about what it is that you want to talk with your audience about.
What type of information do you want to share with them? When you’re planning out your content and you don’t know what to post about, the first thing I recommend you do is find out what your business themes or categories are. What are those topics that your audience wants to hear from you? If you’re still not sure, look at what you teach, what you work with them on, and see if you can find categories in that.
Once you have a category, you can break that down into ideas and topics about what you want to post about. And it makes planning so much easier, because once you know what you are sharing, you can schedule that content to be more consistent. If you struggle with consistent posts, then I recommend that you get into the habit of scheduling your posts.
If you’re not going to schedule the content, be sure to schedule reminders that you are going to plan and map out your content, or set up a simple reminder that says, “Hey, did you post on social media today?”
I have a really serious question for you. Okay? Listen up. Are you down with OPP? ♫ Yeah, you know me ♫ Who’s down with OPP ♫ All the ladies It’s probably not what you’re thinkin’.
Probably not anything to do with the 90s song. But it fits.
Are you down with other people’s posts? Be down with sharing other people’s content. It will help you be more consistent in your marketing. It also helps form community, and you know I’m all about that.
And lastly, once you start, don’t stop. Build that consistency, create the schedule, and stick with it. If you need to, schedule it on your calendar to make sure that you make it happen.
