WHAT YOUR BUSINESS CAN LEARN FROM TAYLOR SWIFT

The Queen is a FORCE.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A FAN TO LEARN
Not a Taylor Swift fan? Don’t worry, you don’t have to be to learn some valuable tips for your business.
Map it out. Create the plan. Take the action on it. It’s one of the best things that you can do for your business.

It’s really hard to find an album that you can listen the entire way through without skipping to the next song. And I have discovered one that I’ve been playing nonstop. Don’t worry if you’re not a fan, I would argue why you’re not, but don’t worry if you’re not. You’re still going to get a lot of value out of this week’s vlog episode.

The woman is genius, brilliant, at marketing. Whether you wanna say it’s her or her team, the entire collaboration is absolutely brilliant in their marketing, and this week, we are gonna talk all about what they’ve done successfully with the new launch of her new album, “Reputation.”

To bring you up to speed, Taylor recently launched a brand new album, and she did it in her own way, and that’s what we’re going to talk about today is all of the things that she implemented into this launch to make it successful and how you can take away some of those core pieces and implement into your business, starting today.

PATTERN INTERUPTION

You may have noticed, or maybe not, that I am in a different location of my house than my usual vlogs. And that was done on purpose, because one of the things that Taylor did really well with this launch was creating pattern interruptions Nothing was done ‘business as usual.’ In fact, it was done so unconventionally, that people might look at it like ‘How could that even have been successful?’ And yet, that’s exactly why it was successful. If you’ve been doing the same thing over and over and over again, and getting the same result, yet your expecting a different result, then maybe a pattern interrupt is just what you need. Shaking things up and doing them completely unconventional sometimes is how you can get your biggest business breakthrough. In fact, that’s why I’m recording this episode today as a pattern interrupter. I was kind of feeling like ‘Oh my gosh, every video is the same and same and same,’ and I thought, why not create my own pattern interrupt? I was getting into the same pattern over and over again with each of my vlogs and, I myself wanted to shake things up, and here we are. Look at your business and how can you shake things up in 2018?

Creating pattern interruptions for your business, to awaken your audience.

To get them to take action. It’s great that you have access to all of these swipe files and documents and templates that are going to help you create what you need to in your business. But don’t be afraid of doing it your own way, to really make a statement. And really capture the attention of those that you’re trying to reach.

ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS

And while you’re out there, creating these new pattern interrupts for your business, take a look at how you can eliminate distractions as well. Now I’m not saying that you should go out there and create a blank space like Taylor did when she eliminated everything from her social media accounts, except for a few choice images and videos. But you can look over your website and your content and your sales pages and your optic pages, to see where you can eliminate distraction to be able to focus more on what is that ideal customer’s call to action with each step that they are taking. And while you’re eliminating distractions, think about how you can create gamification in your business.

GAMIFICATION

With Taylor, this wasn’t necessarily with her album launch, this was more for her sales, but involved her album launch. Stay with me for a second. I don’t even get excited about purchasing concert tickets anymore, because of the bots that are out there. They’re always taking all of the good seats and it just creates way too much anxiety. Concerts really aren’t my thing. However, Taylor’s in my top three. And I was going to do whatever I needed to do to remember that her tickets were going on sale. What I loved about the process was that she was trying to eliminate bots from coming in, swooping in, and stealing all of the tickets. That they were then put out there for like the three time markup for her fans.

She looks out for her fans. I love it!

What she created with Ticketmaster was a gamification application that allowed for her fans to show their support by either purchasing her album as a pre-order or purchasing other types of merchandise that went towards their spot in line to purchase concert tickets. Brilliant! And she added a social share feature to it so they could share it with their friends and invite their friends, and bump themselves up in line. Who doesn’t love playing a game that allows you early access to something that nobody else can get? Gamification has been around for about two years, but really became hot this year and is not going anywhere next year.

If you don’t have any way of adding gamification into your business, this is something that I would start with. Maybe it starts with a quiz, or even sharing a freebie to unlock another freebie for your new email subscribers. These are the things that get people excited about your brand and is something that Taylor did really well. I sat in front of my computer last night and watched the clock until my ticket time was released.

And I got tickets! Super excited by it, but…

Again, gamification, so important. Look at how you can implement it into your business. One of my favorite tools, by Nathalie Lussier, another awesome woman entrepreneur, will help you set up quizzes that can guide your email subscribers from one step to the next or maybe even your membership site. I highly recommend that you check it out. It’s a good thing when you can get your audience to take action and seize the opportunities that you provide to them by adding in a gamification element you get them excited, maybe a little bit more than they would for a video series, or maybe even a PDF on it’s own. It all really depends on the strategy of your business, which, fancy that, brings us to the next step.

STRATEGY

And I know that I preach this a lot, but I can’t say it enough, because if you don’t have a strategy in place, what are you working towards? Where is your goals? Where is your structure? How do you know what to do? Absolutely every step that Taylor takes with her lyrics, with her music videos, with her wardrobe, every aspect that she puts into her business, is well planned out and has an end strategy implemented. This is something that everybody can take away. You have to have a strategy in place. You have to know what your purpose is, what you’re working towards, what your dates are, what your goals are, and how to know when that goal is achieved. This is all about the strategy. It’s all together, and it’s something that you cannot ignore. A big piece of success is having a strategy that you take action on. It’s not one or the other, it’s both combined. And you have to take action on that strategy to create success. A well thought out strategy will incorporate all aspects of the business, so that they go together for a maximum result. Right now with social media, with email marketing, with launches, with live streams, vlogging or blogging, whichever you prefer, there are so many opportunities out there right now to reach your audience. You have to have a plan in place, that has a strategy that you can implement and take action on knowing what your end game result is going to be. That is how you be the absolute best in your business.

No detail in your business should be left unturned.

You want to make sure that everything leads into the next step and that you’re not just throwing spaghetti at a wall and hoping that maybe it might stick.

Map it out. Create the plan. Take the action on it. It’s one of the best things that you can do for your business. I know, I know I say that in like every vlog, but if you still don’t have your strategy yet, you clearly need to hear it again, right?

And I will keep saying it until you get that strategy in place.

SQUAD UP

And finally, one of the most important things that I have taken away from watching Taylor and her success, is that she never does anything alone. She always has a squad of people that are helping to support her. If you’ve been trying to build your business without a squad, then forget everything else that I’ve said in this video and maybe that is one of the most important things that you should look for first.

Find the people that are going to help push you into being a better entrepreneur, a better person.

Find the people that are going to hold you up when you’re feeling down and want to retreat and maybe crawl underneath your desk and not write that blog post.

Find the people that are going to cheer you on, and be those email subscribers when there’s nobody else but yourself texting it and your mom. Find the people that are going to be on your squad.

That can help you achieve all of the goals that you want to. That is going to be one of the most important things that you can do for your business, especially as an online entrepreneur. Things can get lonely. Especially if you’re not traveling outside of your home to do the business. You need to find those people that maybe you can meet with once a week or you can bounce ideas off of. Those are going to be the people that really do help you implement the strategies that help you stay focused when maybe you’re getting distracted from ten other things. Those are the people that are going to help you really achieve the goals that you want to in your business.

  • Look for a mastermind.
  • Look for a Facebook group.
  • Find a mentor that is going to help you see your business through.

See, I told you you didn’t have to be a Taylor Swift fan to get a lot out of this video. I hope you enjoyed this video today.

If you did, be sure to give it a thumbs up on social media and maybe share with a friend that is a fellow entrepreneur that maybe is in your squad. Tell them that you want them to be in your squad for the new year, so that they can help hold you up and you can help hold them up as well. Thank you so much for watching, I’ll see you in the next episode.
